2008 Mayor's Cup 5K Race / 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

The inaugural Marlton Mayor's Cup 5K Run took place on Friday, July 4th, 2008. Morning drizzle didn't dampen the spirits of the participants, as over 370 individuals registered to run. Following a beautiful rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" by Carmen Malatino, the runners were off with a shotgun start.

The race wound through paved roads in the Arrowhead and Heritage Village neighborhoods as well as along Main St. Cherokee High School Renaissance Club members and Arrowhead residents provided directional assistance along the route to complement the signage (as well as encouraging cheers).

Overall results can be found here. Awards were given for First, Second, and Third Place in several age groups.

The 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk began after the runners' departure, with a healthy 140 people participating. Residents of all ages, some in strollers and wagons, enjoyed the easy trek through the Arrowhead neighborhood.

Following the race, randomly-selected participants were awarded prizes donated by local businesses, including: Family Jewelers, Rizzieri Salon, Girlfriends Boutique, Marlton Tavern, Mexican Food Factory, Main Street Barbershop, Primo's Hoagies, LL Bean, Carrabba's, Pilates Plus, Fleet Feet, The Great Frame Up, Melange Home Decor, Sal's Pizzaworks, REI, and Rita's Water Ice.
